What is AWS GameDay - The New Frontier?
AWS Gameday - The New Frontier is a 4-6 hour hackathon event, a collaborative learning exercise that tests skills in implementing AWS solutions to solve real-world problems in a gamified, risk-free environment.
This is a completely hands-on opportunity for technical professionals to explore AWS services, architecture patterns, best practices, and group cooperation. The approach is unconventional compared to other learning formats. Ambiguity and non-prescriptive guidance allow teams the flexibility to think creatively as they navigate a wide array of technical challenges.
There is no one right answer; teams pave their own path based on resources we provide them within live AWS accounts. If you enjoy open-ended challenges without step-by-step instructions, look no further.
The setting for every GameDay is our famous (fictitious) narrative. Participants are new hires at Unicorn.Rentals and this is their first day on the job.
The New Frontier debuted at AWS re:Invent 2022 in Las Vegas (USA). It was developed for a general audience. Participants can expect a wide variety of technical challenges related to AI/ML, data consolidation, data stream processing, security, IoT, CI/CD and more.
How do I participate?
Register yourself through the form at the bottom of this page. Teams of 3 will be working together to complete the tasks listed below. You do not need to know AWS in order to participate, but familiarity with it will always help.

Yes! This event is only open to registered hackathon participants but it is not a required event. If you want to participate, we need to know ahead of time so we can prepare your seat at the New Hire Orientation of Unicorn Rentals!
